Josée Hébert, M.D.
A hematologist and cytogeneticist, Dr Josée Hébert is the co-founder and director of the Quebec Leukemia Cell Bank, which is based at the Centre de recherche de l’Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont. She is involved in clinical research in the leukemia program of the Department of Hematology and Oncology and heads the Clinical Cytogenetics Laboratory at the HMR. She is also a full professor in the Faculty of Medicine at Université de Montréal and holds the Industrielle-Alliance Research Chair in Leukemia at Université de Montréal.
Anne Marinier, Ph.D.
Trained as a Chemist, Anne Marinier earned her Ph.D. in Synthetic Organic Chemistry at the Université de Sherbrooke in 1990 after working under the guidance of Pierre Deslongchamps. She then joined Garland Marshall’s team at Washington University School of Medicine, in St. Louis, for a postdoctoral fellowship.
She was hired by pharmaceutical company Bristol-Myers Squibb in 1991. There she worked on developing new anti-infective, anti-inflammatory and anti-tumor drugs. She joined IRIC in 2007 and contributed to the creation of what would become the country’s largest medicinal chemistry group in a university setting. She heads the Institute’s Drug Discovery Unit.
Sébastien Lemieux, Ph.D.
Trained as a microbiologist, Sébastien Lemieux turned to bioinformatics in 1997 and completed his Master’s and Ph.D. studies at the Université de Montréal under the direction of François Major. After obtaining his Ph.D. in 2002, the young Investigator headed to the private sector to carry out postdoctoral training at Elitra Canada (now Merck & Co) under the supervision of Bo Jiang. There he acquired skills in sequence analysis and the analysis of DNA microarray data, as well as in computer integration of experimental data.
He finally joined the IRIC’s ranks in 2005. In 2018, he was appointed Associate Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine of the Faculty of Medicine of the Université de Montréal.
Vincent-Philippe Lavallée , M.D. , Ph.D.
Dr Lavallée completed his MD and Hematology training at Université de Montréal in 2010 and his PhD at IRIC under the supervision of Dr Guy Sauvageau in 2020. He completed his training by a postdoctorat in Computational and Systems Biology at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (NYC, USA).
Since 2022, Dr Lavallée is a Principal Investigator and Hematologist at CHU Sainte-Justine Research Center. His main research focuses on examining cellular heterogeneity in pediatric cancers, particularly acute leukemias, to better understand their development, progression, and vulnerabilities. Through this work, he aims to drive advancements in pediatric oncology research.
